Netflix India is doing much better this year in comparison to 2022. But it is showing a chronic problem. The problem is, there is one great performer and the rest are crap. But before we dive into analysis, let’s have a look at every important Indian title that Netflix brought us in October.
Original Series
Kaala Paani
Original Films
Khufiya
Licensed Films
Chandramukhi 2, Iraivan, OMG 2, Dream Girl 2
Analysis
As said earlier, Netflix’s releases seem to be hanging in extremes. Either they come out to be really good or terribly bad. Kaala Paani is a mammoth hit on Netflix. It has been making waves internationally for the past two weeks now and it is indeed a big deal. It got good critical reception and has been getting great commercial reception too.
Stepping to Khufiya is a strange case. Netflix grabbed a filmmaker as prominent as Vishal Bhardwaj. But just like every filmmaker, he too has limitations and the film came out to be bang average. It is strictly a passable movie and as a result, even people didn’t like it much.
Talking about licensed films Dream Girl 2 was a good success. OMG 2 on the other hand got excellent responses from the people. They celebrated the movie much more on OTT than they did in the theatres. But, but, but
Chandramukhi 2 is probably the most trolled film of 2023. The terrible film received insane trolling and it was indeed a burning topic but for all the wrong reasons. The condition of Iraivan was no better if we subtract the trolling and attention part.
To sum up, Netflix India deserves 6.5 out of 10. Thanks to Kaala Paani and OMG 2.
