OTT giant Netflix had announced its fresh slate of films, web series, documentaries, comedy specials, and reality shows way back in the month of March 2021. While many of them have already been released and currently streaming on the platform, some of the announced titles are still waiting to be released.

In this article, we give you a list of Netflix original films that were announced but still pending to be released on the Netflix OTT platform.

Dhamaka

This is Ram Madhvani’s next feature film directorial after the critically acclaimed and National Award-winning movie ‘Neerja’. ‘Dhamaka’ is said to be a remake of the South Korean action thriller ‘The Terror Live’ and features Kartik Aaryan in the lead role of a journalist. The story follows a washed-out former news anchor who, by a twist of fate, gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance after he receives threatening calls from a terrorist. Although Netflix has not set an official release date, the film is expected to release sometime in October.

Penthouse

This suspenseful thriller film will serve as the digital directorial debut of the popular director duo Abbas-Mastan and features Bobby Deol, Arjun Rampal, Sharman Joshi, Mouni Roy, Tisca Chopra, and Cyrus Broacha. The story idea is about five friends who discover a dead body of an unknown person in their penthouse. Who is the culprit amongst them?

Bulbul Tarang

It’s a romantic comedy film starring ‘Dabangg’ actress Sonakshi Sinha in the titular role alongside Tahir Raj Bhasin of ‘Mardaani’ fame. Reportedly inspired by a true story, the film is ostensibly a social drama based on an age-old custom and how a bride challenges these long-standing societal rules.

Jaadugar

The film stars the supremely talented Jitendra Kumar (Panchayat, Kota Factory) and is written by Biswapati Sarkar (Permanent Roommates, TVF Pitchers). The story follows a small-time magician who must play football and win the coveted football trophy in order to marry his lover.

Plan A Plan B

This romantic comedy ostensibly revolves around two contrasting individuals (Ritesh Deshmukh and Tamannaah Bhatia). The woman’s character is said to be that of a matchmaker who opines that marriage is for everyone excluding herself. While the man in the love story is a successful divorce lawyer who harbors a secret of his own.

Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Another rom-com on this list and this one features Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani in the lead roles. The film is reportedly based on the struggles of long-distance relationships faced by a newly married couple.
