WWE fans in India are not happy. And honestly, can you blame them?
For over a decade, WWE had a cozy home on Sony Sports Network. You could catch RAW, SmackDown, or WrestleMania just by flipping on the TV. It was accessible, familiar, and most importantly, affordable.
But now, thanks to a global deal, WWE has packed its bags and moved to Netflix. No more Sony. No more television. If you’re a die-hard fan from Tier 2 or Tier 3 cities who grew up watching John Cena and Roman Reigns on TV, well… tough luck.
Because watching WWE in 2025 now comes with a subscription fee, Rs. 199 per month, at the very least. And that’s only for the mobile plan. Want to watch it with your family on a bigger screen? You’ll need the Rs. 499 or even Rs. 649 plan. That’s a steep jump from what Sony offered.
Fans are rightfully angry. Many of them can’t afford this shift. WWE was once one of the few global entertainment experiences that truly belonged to India’s small towns. But now, Netflix has taken it behind a paywall that feels too high for its most loyal audience.
Yes, Netflix is trying to broaden its reach. But in doing so, it may have alienated the very base that made WWE so popular in India in the first place.
In the end, this isn’t just a platform shift, it’s a cultural disconnect. And unless Netflix addresses pricing or makes the content more accessible, the boos from the Indian WWE universe are only going to get louder.
This is not fair. I know WWE contract is over with Sony Liv and that doesn't mean you should stop showing WWE on TV because Netflix plans are more expensive than Sony Liv for watching on TV
