Netflix India’s Top 10 Films & Series to Watch in the 12th September Week

For Netflix India’s top ten films list, the top-ranked title has been bagged by Mohit Suri’s romantic thriller ‘Ek Villain Returns’. While on the second and the third spots of the Netflix list are the investigative mystery thriller ‘HIT: The First Case’ starring Rajkummar Rao and the dark comedy movie ‘Darlings’ starring Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, and Vijay Verma in the lead roles.

Moreover, two films featuring SRK – ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Dear Zindagi’ have also made an appearance this time.

On the Netflix top ten TV shows front, this week’s top spot has been bagged by the martial arts drama and ‘The Karate Kid’ sequel ‘Cobra Kai’ followed by the Emmy Award-winning police procedural show ‘Delhi Crime’ starring Shefali Shah and the reality show ‘The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives’.

Here’s the full list of the top ten movies and TV shows on Netflix India this week:

TOP 10 MOVIES ON NETFLIX INDIA THIS WEEK

10. Jaadugar

Directed by Sameer Saxena, the film revolves around a small-time struggling magician named Magic Meenu (played by Jitendra Kumar), who lives in Neemuch town in MP. Despite no interest in sports, Meenu must now lead a down and out football team and win the coveted inter-colony football tournament – in order to marry his love interest (Arushi Sharma). The movie also features Jaaved Jaafery in an important role of a sports coach.

9. RRR (Hindi)

S.S Rajamouli’s period action movie features Ram Charan and Jr.NTR in the lead roles and Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles. ‘RRR’ is a fictional tale set in the 1920s that revolves around two legendary Indian revolutionaries namely Alluri Sitarama Raju (played by Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (played by Jr. NTR).

8. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

Directed by Anees Bazmee, the comedy-horror flick is a standalone sequel to Priyadarshan’s 2007 film starring Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan. The sequel features Kartik Aaryan as Ruhan, who meets a woman named Reet during a trip. Their chance encounter leads them to a haunted mansion in Rajasthan following which Ruhan poses as a psychic, leading to an interesting turn of events.

7. Dilwale

The action-comedy drama movie directed by Rohit Shetty features superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the role of a gangster turned car tuner Raj (naam to suna hoga). He crosses paths with his ex-flame and rival gang’s daughter Meera (Kajol) after his younger brother Veer (Varun Dhawan) falls in love with Meera’s younger sister Ishita (Kriti Sanon).

6. No Limit

Helmed by David M. Rosenthal, the French aquatic romantic drama movie follows the story of Roxana (Camille Rowe), who enrolls for a freediving course where she falls in love with the world champion instructor Pascal (Sofiane Zermani).

5. Dear Zindagi

The story revolves around a successful albeit unhappy cinematographer (Alia Bhatt) who is going through a rough phase in her life. Her life changes for the good when she encounters an unconventional and charming psychologist (Shahrukh Khan), who transforms her perspective towards life. The feel-good film was helmed by Gauri Shinde (Director – English Vinglish).

4. End of the Road

The action thriller movie follows the story of a widowed mother Brenda, who must protect her family from a mysterious killer after getting involved in a murder case and a missing money bag in the New Mexico desert.

3. Darlings

‘Darlings’ is a black comedy film that revolves around a mother-daughter duo (played by Shefali Shah and Alia Bhatt) that is set against the backdrop of a conservative and lower-middle-class Mumbai neighbourhood. The story is about how Alia Bhatt’s character Badru thinks that her husband (Vijay Varma) will change after he stops his drinking habit. But when things go out of control, both these women set out to exact revenge in their own amateurish way.

2. HIT: The First Case

Helmed by Sailesh Kolanu, the film’s plot revolves around an astute police officer of the titular Homicide Intervention Team aka HIT who makes it his mission to find a missing woman which will help him solve the disappearance case of his lover. The mystery thriller features Rajkummar Rao and Sanya Malhotra in the lead roles.

1. Ek Villain Returns

Mohit Suri’s romantic thriller ‘Ek Villain Returns’ features John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, Disha Patani, and Tara Sutaria in the lead roles. The story follows two men with one-sided love and how their decisions and the path they take decide who is the hero and the villain amongst them.

10. Young Lady and Gentleman

The South Korean series follows a down-on-luck woman, who accidentally becomes a live-in tutor in an affluent family comprising a widower and his three children. How the two begin to get attracted to each other despite their age difference and other conflicts forms the show’s basic plotline.

9. Never Have I Ever

The high-school comedy drama series revolves around the life of Devi (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), an Indian American teenage girl and focuses on her relationships with friends and her romantic interests.

8. Stranger Things

The initial story, set in the 1980s, revolves around a young boy’s disappearance and the ensuing investigation by his mother, police chief, and his friends amidst supernatural events. The sci-fi horror series (latest season) follows the aftereffects of the devastating Battle of Starcourt at the Hawkins town in Indiana. The show’s young protagonists are now living separately and trying to move on in their lives. At this juncture, a long-buried, supernatural threat that connects everything, emerges on Earth and the Upside Down.

7. Devil in Ohio

When a psychiatrist Dr. Suzanne Mathis (Emily Deschanel) brings a young cult escapee and her patient to her own home, the new member’s presence puts her own family in danger. The miniseries is based on Daria Polatin’s book of the same name, which in turn was inspired by true incidents.

6. Narco Saints

Helmed by Yoon Jong-bin and based on true events, the South Korean series revolves around a regular businessman Kang In-gu (Ha Jung-woo), who is forced to become a part of a dangerous plan to nab the dreaded Korean kingpin Jeon Yo-hwan (Hwang Jung-min).

5. The Imperfects

The ‘coming of rage’ story revolves around three young adults named Abbi, Juan and Tilda, who gain incredible powers akin to legendary creatures after being subjected to a scientific experiment. Now, the three must team up with a doctor to find the person responsible and a possible cure for their condition.

4. Indian Predator: The Diary of a Serial Killer

The crime docuseries is the second instalment of the Indian Predator series and revolves around the murder of a journalist – a crime which traces back an alleged cannibal who was accused of killing several other people. Shocking revelations came to the fore after the authorities came across a secret diary of the alleged killer.

3. The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives

The show gives its viewers a sneak-peek into the glamorous lives of Bollywood wives and the latest season features Maheep Kapoor (Sanjay Kapoor’s wife), Bhavana Pandey (Chunky Pandey’s wife), Neelam Kothari (Sameer Soni’s wife) and Seema Sajdeh (Sohail Khan’s former wife).

2. Delhi Crime

International Emmy Award-winning show features Shefali Shah as senior cop DCP Vartika Chaturvedi alongside proficient actors like Rajesh Tailang (Mirzapur, Selection Day), Rasika Dugal (Mirzapur, Out of Love) and Adil Hussain (English Vinglish, Agent Vinod), amongst others. The first season revolved around the police investigation to nab the culprits responsible for the despicable gang rape that happened in the capital city. The second season follows a fictionalized take on a true crime that follows the cop’s new case which revolves around the killings of several senior citizens in the capital city by a brutal gang of killers.

1. Cobra Kai

The martial arts drama series is set more than three decades after the events of the 1984 cult film ‘The Karate Kid’. While the parent film featured Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso in the role of the underdog protagonist and his adversary Johnny Lawrence was played by William Zabka. Whereas tables turned in the spin-off web series as the goings-on are also narrated from Johnny Lawrence’s point of view in a setting where he becomes the underdog. After Terry Silver unethically wins the Karate tournament in Season-4, Johnny and Ralph must team up again to outwit the formidable adversary.
