Netflix India’s Top 10 Films & Series to Watch in the 1st November Week

By Binged Bureau - Nov 01, 2021 @ 06:11 pm
Netflix India’s Top 10 Films & Series to Watch in the 1st November Week

Netflix India’s top 10 films and series list is back with some interesting additions, omissions, and changes in ranks. For Netflix’s top ten films list, the top spot this week is unsurprisingly held by the recently released movie ‘Army of Thieves’.

Army of Thieves’ is a prequel to the zombie heist film ‘Army of the Dead’ helmed by Zack Snyder. The film has been directed by Matthias Schweighöfer, who also reprises his role as the German safecracker Ludwig Dieter from the parent film, but this time as the film’s lead actor. The prequel is set six years before the events of ‘Army of the Dead’ and amidst the onset of the zombie apocalypse. In the film, Ludwig, a bank teller, is assigned a mission by a mysterious woman, to execute a virtually impossible heist. Because of ‘Army of Thieves’, its parent film ‘Army of the Dead’ has also made it to this week’s list due to the sudden interest.

Like last week, the second spot has once again been secured by the Vijay Sethupathi starrer action-drama film ‘Laabam’ despite its unexciting reviews. The film started streaming on Netflix from 24th October onwards. The plot revolves around how a villager returns to his native place and under his leadership, attempts to revive the village’s way of doing agriculture while also fighting with the local goons to protect the farmlands.

While the English language romantic film ‘After We Fell’ is currently in third place in the top ten Netflix films list. Based on a novel of the same name by Anna Todd, the film revolves around the passionate romance between the lead characters Tessa and Hardin. Although the film has not received a very encouraging critical response.

This week’s fourth place is occupied by the Netflix psychological-horror-thriller film ‘Hypnotic’. The plotline revolves around a woman (played by Kate Siegel) who takes help from a renowned hypnotherapist (Jason O’Mara) as a way of dealing with her past trauma. However, she gets more than what she had bargained for when these intense hypnotherapy sessions result in dangerous and unanticipated consequences.

Furthermore, Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami starrer ‘Thalaivii’ has still managed to draw attention from audiences, although it has now moved down to seventh place. ‘Thalaivii’ is a biographical film that is based on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa (essayed by Kangana Ranaut) while Arvind Swami has played the role of M. G. Ramachandran in the film. The film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, however, the two lead performances are being praised by many.

While the eighth spot on the Netflix top ten films list is taken by the recently released vampire thriller film called ‘Night Teeth’. The film follows a college student and part-time driver. His life takes an interesting turn when he is tasked with driving around two mysterious women in Los Angeles and gets more than what he had bargained for.

Moreover, the critically acclaimed surrogacy drama ‘Mimi’ starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi, which had made a comeback last week is currently placed on the fifth spot. Moreover, Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey starrer romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’ has still managed to retain a spot in this week’s Netflix list. This substantiates that content still takes precedence at least for OTT audiences.

Last week’s new entrant – the Richard Gere and Diane Lane starrer romantic thriller ‘Unfaithful’ (2002) has managed to secure a place on the Netflix top ten films list this week as well. It’s a well-executed film by Adrian Lyne, the director of ‘Fatal Attraction’. The film revolves around a New York-based couple and how their married life suddenly turns awry when the husband finds out about her wife’s extra-marital affair with a younger man. The plot for the 2004 Indian film ‘Murder’ starring Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat and directed by Anurag Basu was inspired by ‘Unfaithful’.

On the Netflix top-ten TV shows front, the South Korean show that is being loved by fans across the world, has once again bagged the coveted top spot. You guessed it right. The show is none other than ‘Squid Game’. Unsurprisingly, once again.

‘Squid Game’ follows the story of 456 people, who have somewhat failed in their lives, and they are invited to participate in a dangerous survival game called ‘Squid Game’. The winner of the game will take home a huge amount. The show is currently rated 8.1/10 on IMDb and has a 93% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 60 ratings. Despite being quite brutal and repulsive, it’s being called by many a compelling watch. Not for the weak of heart though.

On the second place of the Netflix top ten series list is ‘Call My Agent: Bollywood’. The Netflix series is an Indian adaptation of the French series ‘Dix Pour Cent’. The show revolves around four talent agents (played by Aahana Kumra, Rajat Kapoor, Soni Razdan, and Ayush Mehra) and their endeavor to save the agency after the founder’s untimely demise.

The third spot this week is bagged by ‘Locke & Key’. It’s a supernatural mystery-horror show that revolves around the three Locke siblings who relocate to their ancestral home along with their mother after the mysterious death of their father. They soon find many magical keys inside the house which they think are somehow related to their father’s death. The second season of the popular show started streaming on Netflix on 22nd October. The show has currently got an IMDb rating of 7.4.

On the fourth place of the Netflix top ten series list is the romantic psychological thriller ‘You’. The series follows a dangerously obsessed bookstore manager who can go to any lengths for a romantic relationship with the women he falls for. The third season of the show started streaming on Netflix some time back.

Furthermore, the fifth spot is held by the Indian rom-com series ‘Little Things’ featuring Dhruv Sehgal and Mithila Palkar in the lead roles. The show revolves around a couple living in a live-in relationship. The fourth and final season of the show was released on Netflix on 15th October.

On the sixth place of the Netflix top ten series list is the three-part true-crime docu-series ‘House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths’. This documentary series by ‘Parched’ creator Leena Yadav revolves around the unsettling truths and various theories relating to the deaths of eleven people of the same family in the Burari area of Delhi in the year 2018. The show is currently rated a decent 7.6 on the IMDb portal.

The seventh spot is secured by ‘Dynasty’. Based on the 1980s soap opera of the same name, the modernized reboot show revolves around America’s two affluent business families namely the Carringtons and the Colbys. Until now, the series has had a run spanning three seasons totaling 64 episodes. The fourth season of the show started streaming on Netflix from 22nd October.

And the eighth spot is currently held by another widely acclaimed Korean action series ‘My Name’. The plot follows a woman who joins the police force as an undercover cop on the advice of her crime boss, in order to avenge her father’s murder. Binged has given the series a 7/10 rating with the bottom line: “An Underrated, Bingeable Departed-Meets-Kill-Bill Series!”

Further, the evergreen sitcom ‘Friends’ and the British comedy-drama series ‘Sex Education’ are back on the Netflix top ten TV shows list this week.
