This week Netflix India’s top 10 films list is back with some interesting additions and omissions. The top spot this week is held by the English language romantic film ‘After We Fell’. Based on a novel of the same name by Anna Todd, the film revolves around the passionate romance between the lead characters Tessa and Hardin. Although the film has not received very encouraging critical response.
On the second spot of this week’s Netflix list, despite its unexciting reviews, is the Vijay Sethupathi starrer action-drama film ‘Laabam’, which started streaming on Netflix from 24th October onwards. The plot revolves around how a villager returns to his native place and under his leadership, attempts to revive the village’s way of doing agriculture while also fighting with the local goons to protect the farmlands.
While the third spot on the Netflix top ten films list is taken by the recently released vampire thriller film called ‘Night Teeth’. The film follows a college student and part-time driver. His life takes an interesting turn when he is tasked with driving around two mysterious women in Los Angeles and gets more than what he had bargained for.
After bagging the coveted top spot in the last three weeks, Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami starrer ‘Thalaivii’ has still managed to draw attention from audiences, although it has now moved down to the still impressive fourth place. ‘Thalaivii’ is a biographical film that is based on the late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa (essayed by Kangana Ranaut) while Arvind Swami has played the role of M. G. Ramachandran in the film. The film has been receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, however, the two lead performances are being praised by many.
A new entrant on the fifth place of this week’s Netflix top ten films list is the Richard Gere and Diane Lane starrer romantic thriller ‘Unfaithful’ (2002). It’s a well-executed film by Adrian Lyne, the director of ‘Fatal Attraction’. The film revolves around a New York-based couple and how their married life suddenly turns awry when the husband finds out about her wife’s extra-marital affair with a younger man. The plot for the 2004 Indian film ‘Murder’ starring Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat and directed by Anurag Basu was inspired by ‘Unfaithful’.
The critically acclaimed surrogacy drama ‘Mimi’ starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi, which had made a comeback last week is currently placed on the sixth spot. Moreover, Taapsee Pannu and Vikrant Massey starrer romantic thriller ‘Haseen Dillruba’ has still managed to retain a spot in this week’s Netflix list. This substantiates that content still takes precedence at least for OTT audiences.
Last week’s vigilante action-thriller film ‘The Equalizer 2’ (2018) is still on the Netflix list but on the tenth spot this week. It’s a sequel to the 2018 film ‘The Equalizer’ directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring acclaimed actor Denzel Washington in the lead role. The actor-director duo had previously collaborated in the crime thriller ‘Training Day’ and the Western film ‘The Magnificent Seven’.
In ‘The Equalizer 2’, Washington reprises his role as the highly trained former U.S Marine Robert McCall who makes it his mission to avenge the death of his close friend. ‘Narcos’ and ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Pedro Pascal also plays an important role in the movie. Recommended for action thriller movie buffs.

On the second place of the Netflix top ten series list is ‘Locke & Key’. It’s a supernatural mystery-horror show that revolves around the three Locke siblings who relocate to their ancestral home along with their mother after the mysterious death of their father. They soon find many magical keys inside the house which they think are somehow related to their father’s death. The second season of the popular show started streaming on Netflix on 22nd October. On the fifth place of the Netflix top ten series list is the three-part true-crime docu-series ‘House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths’. This documentary series by ‘Parched’ creator Leena Yadav revolves around the unsettling truths and various theories relating to the deaths of eleven people of the same family in the Burari area of Delhi in the year 2018. The show is currently rated a decent 7.8 on the IMDb portal.
