Apart from movies, documentaries, shorts and series Netflix is venturing into reality competition series. And the efforts to roll a dance reality show rolled much before the pandemic kicked in. Studio Lambert were to start production on a new dance competition series for Netflix.
Cut two years later, the producers are restarting the idea with Dance 100. The show is said to be hosted by Ally Love, who is a Peloton instructor and host of Brooklyn Nets. The production will start by April 1, 2022 in London.
The series follows a street dance competition curated to find the next superstar choreographer. Eight selected contestants must create, choreograph and then perform in massive group dance numbers using 100 of the world’s best dancers.
The “Dance 100” will then follow weekly elimination. With every elimination, the number of dancers remaining contestants should choreograph grows bigger and more challenging. The finale will follow two finalists choreographing a big scale dance performance featuring all 100 dancers. Tim Harcourt,
Saul Fearnley, Stephen Lambert, Stephen Yemoh and Jack Burgess executive produce for Netflix. Stay tuned.
