Netflix’s latest project ‘Anatomy Of A Scandal’ has roped in a trio of brilliant British actors – Sienna Miller (‘G.I.Joe’, American Sniper, Layer Cake), Michele Dockery (‘The Gentlemen’, ‘Downton Abbey’) and Rupert Friend (‘Hitman: Agent 47’, ‘Homeland’). The six-part mini-series is based off a novel of the same name, written by Sarah Vaughan.
The plot will be similar to the plot of the original 2017 novel, which will follow two women and one man in a very ugly scandal. A charismatic politician James (played by Friend), who is on the rise has an affair with a junior member of his staff but is then accused of rape. His wife, Sophie (portrayed by Miller) is convinced her husband is innocent but the prosecutor Kate (Dockery) is just as convinced that James is guilty of the crime. As the case goes on, new evidence comes to light, complicating the case even further. This show will touch on topics such as what will happen to a happy marriage when it comes face-to-face with a disruptive setting like a tense courtroom.
SJ Clarkson, who has working credits include the Emmy winning ‘Succession’ and ‘Jessica Jones’, is set to helm this project. The show will be created by ‘Big Little Lies’ creator David E Kelley and former ‘House of Cards’ showrunner Melissa James Gibson. Both Kelley and Gibson will also write and executive producer the six-part web-series, backed by Liza Chasin’s 3dot productions and Bruna Papandrea’s Made Up Stories. The other executive producers include Clarkson, Chasin for 3dot, and Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Allie Goss for Made Up Stories, and Vaughan; Margaret Chernin will be a co-executive producer.
The showrunners plan to start shooting in London later this year, when the conditions become favourable.
