Netflix has announced the production of ‘Mantis’ (working title), a spin-off of its 2023 film ‘Kill Boksoon’, which premiered at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival. ‘Mantis’ is set in the same hired killer industry universe.
‘Mantis’ follows the Han-ul, an ace assassin known as Martin and working for MK Ent, who returns to a collapsed-order hired killer industry post vacation. Mantis returns to this chaotic and anarchic industry in search of new opportunities and finds out that Jae-yi, his fellow trainee and rival, and Dok-go, a retired legendary killer are all trying to gain the top spot among the killers.
Promising intense high octane action, ‘Mantis’ marks the directorial debut of Lee Tae-sung, who has worked as assistant director for projects like ‘Kill Boksoon’ and ‘The King’. Lee has co-written the script alongside Byun Sung-hyun, the director of ‘Kill Boksoon’.
‘Mantis’ stars Yim Si-wan (‘Unlocked’, ‘Emergency Decalaration’, ‘The Merciless’) in the titular role; Park Gyu-young (‘Sweet Home, ‘Celebrity’) as Jae-yi, an extremely talented killer ousted by MK Ent. after falling out of favor with her bosses; and Jo Woo-jin (‘Narcos: Saints’, ‘Alienoid’) stars as Dok-go, the founding member of MK Ent. and the mentor of Mantis.
Produced by SEE AT Film Co., LTD, ‘Mantis’ will launch soon globally only on Netflix. Stay tuned to binged.com for further updates!
