Netflix today revealed the title and poster of its latest anthology, ‘Ankahi Kahaniya’. The anthology will feature three unheard and untold tales of love that will make you wonder – “What is love?”. Ankahi Kahaniya premieres on Netflix across over 190 countries on September 17th, 2021.
The truly striking thing about Netflix’s Ankahi Kahaniya is the stellar names associated with the anthology. It is produced by Ronnie Screwvala, under his RSVP Movies banner, along with Ashi Dua Sara. The three stories in the anthology are directed by three acclaimed directors, Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Abhishek Chaubey and Saket Chaudhary. The cast boasts versatile actors such as Kunal Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Zoya Hussain, Nikhil Dwivedi, Palomi Das, Rinku Rajguru and Delzad Hiwale.
Ankahi Kahaniya will take the viewer through winding paths of longing and love, with the help of unconventional characters and unexpected love stories. Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s story in the anthology has been written by Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain & Nitesh Tiwari, and stars Abhishek Banerjee. Abhishek Chaubey story is based on the Kannada story ‘Madhyantara’ by Jayant Kaikinist. It stars Rinku Mahadeo Rajguru and Dellzad Hiwale. Finally, Saket Chaudhary’s story is written by him and Zeenat Lakhani, and stars Kunal Kapoor, Zoya Hussain, Nikhil Dwivedi and Palomi Das.
Says Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, “I hope with this story I can captivate the imagination of movie lovers with questions of untold and unanswered emotions every human goes through. I am very glad that our story will reach the world with Netflix belief and impact.”
Abhishek Chaubey says his story “is a story of the city in the 1980s and young love in the world of single screen theatres. When you’re young and caged in Mumbai, looking for love’s a sweet escape. And what’s better than finding it at the movies, however fleetingly?”
Says Saket Chaudhary, “Love stories have always been one of my favourite genres. It is a pleasure to be a part of Ankahi Kahaniya’s thriving story theme. It was great working alongside a talented set of directors and collaborating with Netflix for this anthology.”
