There is a lesser-known series on Netflix similar to Squid Game that deserves more love. Titled ‘Alice in Borderland’, the Japanese series is game-based as well, with more supernatural connotations unlike ‘Squid Game’, which is more rooted in its premise. If you haven’t watched it yet, now is the time! And there’s a major update – the series is now also available in Hindi audio!
‘Alice in Borderland‘ is a science fiction thriller drama that will keep you at the edge of your seats all throughout its run. Directed by Shinsuke Sato, the series stars Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya as allies trapped in an abandoned Tokyo, where they are forced to compete in dangerous games, the type and difficulty of which are determined by playing cards. After surviving their first game, players receive “visas”, which are extended the more they compete. If the visas expire, the individuals are executed by red lasers being shot from the sky.
If you are not familiar with the Japanese series, then ‘Alice in Borderland’ is a great starting step for you. Each episode of the series will keep you invested and engaged. Upon release, it received positive reviews for its action, cinematography, and performances and was compared to the films ‘Battle Royale’ (2000) and ‘Cube’ (1997).
The series was so successful that two weeks after the first season was released, Netflix renewed the series for a second season, which is set to premiere on December 22, 2022. Meaning if you start watching the series now, then by the time you end it, the second series will be waiting for you!
‘Alice in Borderland’ is now available for watch in Japanese, English and Hindi audios, with English subtitles present if necessary. Take a leap of faith and check it out. This adult-rated violent thriller will have you hooked by the end of the first episode.
