Netflix has announced the renewal of acclaimed filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s popular crime drama web series ‘Khakee’ for a second season today. This comes under the expanded creative partnership deal with the show’s creator, Friday Storytellers.
Inspired by the true story of how Bihar’s most dangerous criminal was caught, ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’ marked the first foray onto Netflix for iconic creator Neeraj Pandey. The crime series followed the epic tussle between two men on both sides of the law — one a feared gang lord and the other a fiercely upright Indian Police Service officer Amit Lodha.
The success of ‘Khakee’ season one was such that it was among Netflix India’s top ten shows for more than five months after launching in November last year.
Details on season two of ‘Khakee’ has been kept under wraps for now but the announcement was much awaited by the show’s fans.
Friday Storytellers production is the digital content arm of Neeraj Pandey and Shital Bhatia’s Friday Filmworks and is also the creator of upcoming Disney+ Hotstar show ‘The Freelancer’.
