Netflix has renewed the fantasy drama ‘Sweet Tooth’ for a third and final season just days after the premiere of season two. Showrun by Jim Mickle, the eight episode concluding season of ‘Sweet Tooth’ will take place in Alaska and has already been produced in New Zealand.
‘Sweet Tooth’ began as a colourful post apocalyptic series at an isolated home in Yellowstone and followed Gus (Christian Convery) and Jepperd (Nonso Anozie) as they made their way to Colorado. The recently released second season eventually brings the duo back to Yellowstone, but only for a short time. Towards the end of season two Gus, Jepperd, Wendy (Naledi Murray) and Bear (Stefania LaVie Owen) set out for icy Alaska and that’s where Season 3 picks up.
As per showrunner Mickle, ‘Sweet Tooth’ season three will be different in the sense that Gus will see a side of world and humanity that he didn’t see in Season 1 or 2. Moreover, this final season will be darker than season 2. In season 3 every character will deal with some kind of wound or emotional loss and also they will be looking inwards and ready to move on, ultimately learning that life goes on.
Season three will also see new cast members with the addition of two series regulars Cara Gee (The Expanse) as Siana and Ayazhan Dalabayeva as Nuka. Also, Rosalind Chao’s Zhang, the sole remaining member of the Three, and Amy Seimetz’s Birdie, Gus’ mother have been upgraded to series regulars.
Executive produced by Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell, ‘Sweet Tooth’ season three will launch on Netflix in 2024.
