Netflix India has just announced a new Indian Original series, titled ‘Tooth Pari’. The title is an Indianised version of the popular children’s term ‘Tooth Fairy’, used in Western culture. However, there’s nothing to do with children or fairies in Netflix’s ‘Tooth Pari’. Coz its primary protagonist is none other than a — hold your breath — vampire!
Netflix’s ‘Tooth Pari’ will premiere on the platform on April 20, 2023. Netflix has also revealed the first poster for the series. The poster features popular actor-dancer Shantanu Maheshwari as a dentist, with Tanya Maniktala on the dentist’s chair, waiting to get her ‘tooth’ treated. Interestingly, Netflix India chose today to announce ‘Tooth Pari’, it being World Oral Hygiene Day today.
The series is set in the backdrop of Kolkata. The premise of ‘Tooth Pari’ is an intriguing one. Shantanu Maheshwari plays Roy, a soft-spoken, faint-hearted dentist in the series; while Tanya Maniktala plays Rumi, a vampire, who’s broken her blood-sucking fang. Sparks fly between the two when the human dentist and the vampire girl meet.
‘Tooth Pari’ boasts a stellar cast, one of the best in recent times. Along with Shantanu Maheshwari and Tanya Maniktala, the series stars Sikander Kher, Adil Hussain, Revathy, Saswata Chatterjee, Tillotama Shome, Avijit Dutt, Anindita Bose, Keith Antony Sequeira, Chitrak Bandopadhyay, Kharaj Mukherjee, among others.
The series is produced by Endemol Shine India, created & directed by Pratim Dasgupta, and written by Pratim Dasgupta and Sejal Pasichia. ‘Tooth Pari’ premieres on Netflix worldwide on 20th April, 2023.
