Netflix has announced to bring on board Laura Linney, Ben Semanoff and Justin Kurzel as directors for its upcoming limited series ‘Black Rabbit’ starring and executive produced by Jason Bateman (‘Ozark’, ‘Air’) and Jude Law (‘Talented Mr. Ripley’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’).
Jason Bateman is set to direct the first two episodes with Linney, Semanoff and Kurzel each directing two episodes in the eight one hour episode series.
In ‘Black Rabbit’ when the owner of a New York City hotspot allows his turbulent brother back in his life, he opens the door to escalating dangers that threaten to bring down everything he’s built.
Academy Award nominee Zach Baylin and Kate Susman will serve as creators and writers and will write based on an original idea.
In addition to Bateman and Law, ‘Black Rabbit’ stars Cleopatra Coleman (‘Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire’, upcoming ‘Clipped’), Amaka Okafor (‘Bodies’, ‘The Responder’), Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù (‘Gangs of London’, ‘Slow Horses’) and Dagmara Dominczyk (‘Succession’, ‘The Lost Daughter’).
‘Black Rabbit’ is produced by Jason Bateman and Michael Costigan’s Aggregate Films; Jude Law and Ben Jackson’s Riff Raff Entertainment; Zach Baylin and Kate Susman’s Youngblood Pictures; Andrew Hinderaker, Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon and Erica Kay.
The series will mark the reunion of Bateman and Linney who were co-actors, producers and directors in Netflix’s Emmy winning series ‘Ozark’. The will also be reuniting with Semanoff who was also a director for Ozark. ‘Black Rabbit’ also reunites Kurzel with Law and Baylin, who star in and wrote, respectively, the upcoming true crime thriller, ‘The Order’.
