Ever since the fourth season of the Primetime Emmy nominated martial arts drama series ‘Cobra Kai’ premiered on the Netflix OTT platform on 31st December 2021, Miyagi-Verse fans are now waiting with bated breath for ‘Cobra Kai Season 5’, which is set to start streaming from 9th September 2022.
‘Cobra Kai’ Season 4 ended with the show’s new antagonist Terry Silver on the verge of realizing his nefarious plan to conquer Cobra Kai after unethically winning the Karate tournament. And now, as per a recent casting update, it seems that Terry Silver has got the perfect partner in crime he needed to expand his academy. The makers have reportedly cast Australian actress Alicia Hannah-Kim for Cobra Kai S5 in the role of a South Korean sensei named Kim Da-Eun.
Moreover, another actor Dallas Dupree Young, whose character Kenny Payne was introduced in the show’s fourth season as the bullied underdog Kenny Payne, has been made a regular cast member and will play a more prominent part in Cobra Kai Season 5.
Now, it would be interesting to see how Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence will fight back with new allies, including ‘Karate Kid 2’ character Chozen (played by Yuji Okumoto), in ‘Cobra Kai’ Season 5.
‘Cobra Kai’ series is set more than three decades after the events of the 1984 cult film ‘The Karate Kid’. While the parent film featured Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso in the role of the underdog protagonist and his adversary Johnny Lawrence was played by William Zabka. Whereas tables turned in the spin-off web series as the goings-on are also narrated from Johnny Lawrence’s point of view in a universe where he becomes the underdog.
