Fans of the globally popular supernatural series ‘Stranger Things’ yesterday received the news regarding the fourth season of the show confirmed to return in the year 2022. The show’s streaming home Netflix also shared a delightful sneak-peek teaser video.
We have one good news and one bad news for you. Bad news first. ‘Stranger Things’ showrunners The Duffer Brothers have many times said that they have imagined the show for up to four or a maximum of five seasons, although nothing is officially confirmed yet. However, the good news is that even if the fourth or fifth season of the Netflix show would be its last, that does not imply the end of the ‘Stranger Things’ franchise universe.
Yes, you heard that right. Because as per an exciting revelation by the show’s executive producer Shawn Levy, fans could be in for a pleasant treat as there could be one or more than one ‘Stranger Things’ spin offs. This could keep the immensely acclaimed franchise running even after the conclusion of the current series.
Regarding a possible spin-off series of Netflix’s tentpole franchise with 196 million views, Shawn Levy (via Collider) had earlier stated that: “What’s been made clear is there is an interest and a real voracious appetite for any offshoot, any other iteration format, or extension of the franchise, the characters, the mythology. And certainly those conversations are hardly evolved, but they’re also not non-existent.”
Whether the hinted ‘Stranger Things’ spinoff series would be a prequel or would rather focus on one of the series’ principal characters is yet to be confirmed and is a matter of speculation.
The internationally acclaimed ‘Stranger Things’ debuted on the Netflix OTT platform in the year 2016. The initial story, set in the 1980s, revolves around a young boy’s disappearance and the ensuing investigation by his mother, police chief, and his friends amidst supernatural events.
