Netflix has just revealed the first look and release date for its new live-action series on the beloved ‘Parasyte’ manga series. Korean series ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ will premiere on Netflix worldwide on 5th April, 2024. The series will stream in the one-episode per week format, with the finale episode slated to release in June.
Netflix’s ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ is inspired by the legendary manga ‘Parasyte’ by Hitoshi Iwaaki, which sold over 25 million copies in more than 30 regions and countries. Though Netflix’s series will be set in the same milieu as the manga, it will follow its own storyline and plot, different from the manga.
Acclaimed director Yeon Sang-ho has written and directed Netflix’s ‘Parasyte: The Grey’. Film lovers will know him as the creator of films and series such as ‘Train To Busan’, ‘Hellbound’, ‘JUNG_E’, ‘The Bequeathed’, among others.
‘Parasyte: The Grey’ is set in a world where parasites invade humans, take over their brains and feed on their bodies. Su-in, portrayed by Jeon So-nee (Our Blooming Youth, Scripting Your Destiny, Soulmate, Bad Police), is compelled to coexist with one such parasite in her body when the parasite fails to take over her brain completely.
Koo Kyo-hwan (D.P., Kingdom: Ashin of the North, Kill Boksoon, Escape from Mogadishu) plays Kang-woo, a man driven to fight parasites in his quest to find his missing sister. Lee Jung-hyun (Limit, Decision to Leave, Night of the Undead) portrays Jun-kyung, the determined leader of ‘Team Grey’, a task force dedicated to fighting and destroying the parasites.
Kwon Hae-hyo (D.P., Peninsula) plays Chul-min, a senior detective committed to protecting Su-in, while Kim In-kwon (The Cursed: Dead Man’s Prey, The Battle of Jangsari) plays Won-seok, Chul-min’s junior colleague.
With a popular cast of actors, a stellar director at its helm, and a legendary manga as its source material, ‘Parasyte: The Grey’ promises to be another compelling Korean drama on Netflix.
