If you ask how Netflix started to crack the international and some Asian regional markets, they need to give credit to Squid Game. Though the show’s first season boomed, fans have mixed feelings about the upcoming series.
Netflix dropped a teaser on Twitter, and the caption gives us a clue about the future of the series. The second season of Squid Game will be streaming on December 26th, which might be a good date as it will capitalize on the holidays.
Talking about the future of the show, it plans to continue with a third season, which will be released in 2025.
The major concern about this is that Netflix sometimes messes up big shows, like the case of 1899, which had immense potential and popularity but was canceled after the first season.
The problem it might face is that, although Squid Game had the typical regional spice, it now has tasted international success. Just like fusion food, if Netflix mixes in some international elements, it might ruin the authenticity of the series.
For now, we can just hope for the best as Squid Game’s second season is releasing by the end of this year. Although the show is coming to an end next year, we can definitely expect some spinoffs to keep us entertained in the upcoming years.
