Netflix confirmed the making of a new comedy series coming from the writer of Disney+‘s ‘Hocus Pocus’ sequel, Jen D’Angelo. The show will have Golden Globe Winners Awkwafina (Crazy Rich Asians, The Farewell) and Sandra Oh (Killing Eve, Grey’s Anatomy, Over the Moon) starring in the lead.
The official synopsis of this latest untitled Netflix comedy series goes as, “A lonely recluse’s life is upended when her train wreck of a sister vows to mend their relationship by helping her fulfill her lifelong dream: to be a contestant on her favorite game show.”
It will be produced by both the lead stars, Awkwafina and Sandra Oh, along with the series writer Jen D’Angelo. Other than them, Gloria Sanchez’s Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell; Artists First’s Itay Reiss and Maggie Haskins will also serve as the producer for the untitled Netflix sister comedy series.
Other than the sequel of Disney’s ‘Hocus Pocus’, Jen D’Angelo is also the co-executive producer of Dwayne Johnson starrer NBC series ‘The Young Rock’. He also served as the on-set writer for Skydance’s sci-fi feature ‘The Tomorrow War’. His other works include Solar Opposites (Hulu), Workaholics, The Millers & Cougar Town.
The stars and the storyline for this new comedy series make it something to look forward to. Though the dates for its production and release are yet to be announced by Netflix.
