Netflix to Adapt Jane Austen’s “Persuasion”; Stars Dakota Johnson

Netflix sets to adapt the Jane Austen novel “Persuasion” this summer. The movie will be directed by Carrie Cracknell and Dakota Johnson will be playing the lead role of Annie Elliot who is the major character of the novel. Apart from her, Cosmo Jarvis plays as Frederick Wentworth and Henry Golding as Mr. Eliot. Netflix confirmed the news through a recent tweet.

Jane Austen who is famous for her novels has produced many notable works such as “Pride and Prejudice”, “Sense and Sensibility” and other novels where Pride and Prejudice has already been adapted to the silver screen. “Persuasion” is the last novel of Jane Austen written in 1817. Even though this novel is not considered as the best works of Jane Austen fans are eagerly waiting to see Dakota Johnson’s performance as Annie Elliot.

Netflix has experience of making movies based on books like “All the Bright Places”, “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind”, “Rebecca” etc which became decent adaptations of the book. “Persuasion” is also expected to become a good movie.

Dakota Johnson who became famous through the Fifty Shades trilogy which is also an adaptation, “Persuasion” will be her next entry on her movies which is based on a book. She also made headlines recently by casting as Madame Web in Sony’s upcoming Marvel project which is set to release in 2023.

The movie’s trailer is not out yet but it is expected to drop soon on the internet. “Persuasion” will be available to stream on Netflix from July 15 2022.
