Netflix has just dropped the trailer for its Swedish crime drama, ‘Clark‘, along with its release date on the platform. Swedish series ‘Clark’ arrives on Netflix worldwide on May 5.
Bill Skarsgård plays the titular role of Clark Oloffson in the series. The series is adapted from the real-life story of a notorious bank robber whose charm and charisma captivated the imagination of the people of Sweden in the seventies. The story itself is an explosive one, full of sex, lies and deceit.
‘Clark’ sheds light on the lesser known real-life fact of how Clark Oloffson unwittingly became the criminal who spawned the term ‘Stockholm Syndrome’. The term is used to describe a condition when a person who’s been kidnapped or abused develops affection for their kidnapper/abuser.
The official synopsis for Clark describes Bill Skarsgård’s character thus, “Convicted of several counts of drug trafficking, attempted murder, assault, theft, and dozens of bank robberies, he has spent more than half his life behind bars and has left behind a trail of trauma, heartbreak, disappointment, and general devastation. In the 1970s Clark gave rise to the idea of “The Stockholm Syndrome” during a failed bank robbery in Stockholm and has ever since kept his position as a celebrity criminal fooling all of Sweden to fall in love with him. Just like he desired.”
Bill Skarsgård looks terrific in the trailer of Clark. It is definitely a series Netflix viewers can look forward to watching. The series is adapted from gangster Clark Oloffson’s autobiography, ‘Vafan var det som hände’. Interestingly, it is in Swedish, Bill Skarsgård’s native tongue.
Clark releases on Netflix on May 5. Have a look at the trailer for the upcoming series –
