Netflix and VRT, the Belgian public broadcaster, have ordered a new crime-thriller series titled ‘Diamond’. The eight part drama series will come from ‘Fauda’ and ‘Line In The Sand’ co-creators Yuval Yefet and Rotem Shamir, who will also direct the series.
‘Diamond’ is set in the world’s largest diamond district and follows the struggles and strife of the Wagners, one of Antwerp’s most influential diamond-dealing families. When their youngest son commits suicide, his long-estranged brother Noah returns to take charge of the family business, using unusual methods in order to save himself and his family.
While the cast for Netflix and VRT’s ‘Diamond’ is yet to be finalised, the mafia drama will be produced by Keshet International and Belgian production company De Mensen. The series will begin filming this summer to launch in 2022 and will be shot in Dutch, English and Yiddish languages.
De Mensen’s head of scripted Pieter Van Huyck, Ivy Vanhaecke, Keshet International VP of global drama Atar Dekel and CEOAlon Shtruzman and Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir serve as executive producers for ‘Diamond’.
Further information about Diamond’s cast, crew and its release date are yet to be revealed by Netflix.
