Soon there will soon be a spin-off for the series ‘Narcos: Mexico’ that will come out on Netflix. ‘Narcos’ told the stories of various drug lords during the late 80s including the kingpin Pablo Escobar. The concluding episode of Narcos: Mexico came out in 2021 and was an extension of the same story and takes the story further where Felix Gallardo takes full control over the Guadalajara Cartel.
The third and final season of the show had many members of the cartel either killed or imprisoned by the end. The new show will extend the story of drug lord Joaquín Guzmán or popularly called ‘El Chapo’ further and will deal with his own life rather than the whole Mexican drug rackets and schemes. Alejandro Edda, who has played the character of El Chapo in all three seasons of Narcos: Mexico will probably reprise his role.
Amado Carrillo Fuentes dies with plastic surgery issues and Ramón Arellano Félix, the leader of the Tijuana cartel too is murdered in a conflict and El Chapo is imprisoned by the end of the third season. El Chapo acts diplomatically in the prison and even gets into a position of power and strength behind the bars. El Chapo gave out more than two million Dollars to get out of the prison and managed to flee and stay away from police and the Narcotics department for thirteen years. This time is marked in the history of the US as the darkest period of drug trafficking. El Chapo went on to be the richest man in the history of cartel and trafficking with his huge wealth. The spin-off series will explore his personal life and his escape and rise to power.
Gaumont Television, the production house behind both Narcos and Narcos: Mexico will be producing the spin-off series as well. Not much details about the series have been announced as of now and hopefully we will soon get to know more of when it will be released.
