Eddie Murphy is runnin’ and gunnin’ in the latest official teaser trailer of Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. The long-awaited fourth entry in the action franchise sees Murphy reprise the iconic character of Axel Foley, a street-smart cop based in Detriot, Michigan. But his biggest cases share a solid connection with Beverly Hills.
The trailer opens up with Kevin Bacon’s Captain Grant sarcastically complimenting Axel Foley as a street-running cop. We also see the return of Paul Reiser as Detective Jeffrey Friedman, the protagonist’s partner in the Detriot PD, who warns Axel to stay out of problems. But we all know that’s definitely not going to happen in the upcoming Beverly Hills entry. In addition, we see glimpses of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (who plays Detective Bobby Abbott, the ex-boyfriend of Axel’s estranged daughter, Jane, played by Taylour Paige in the film). Abbott will become Axel’s new partner in the Beverly Hills PD.
The teaser trailer guarantees that ‘Axel F’ will have more action than the previous Beverly Hills Cop entries. The fourth film focuses on Axel Foley making a return to the region after one of his cases turns personal.
Apart from leading the project, Eddie Murphy also serves as one of the producers, along with Jerry Bruckheimer, Melissa Reid, and Chad Oman. In a recent interview with Netflix’s TUDUM, Bruckheimer revealed that fans will see Murphy as the “same Axel Foley” we all love.
