Netflix has announced a bunch of new upcoming titles at the just-concluded Edinburgh TV Festival. The unscripted titles include the World War II documentary ‘World War II: From the Frontlines’, the biopic series ‘Fatherhood With My Father’, where Jack Whitehall reunites with his father Michael on a path of discovery and adventure as they try to crack the answers to parenthood’s endless questions.
But the most interesting announcement at the Edinburgh TV Fest from Netflix is most certainly the documentary feature, ‘Einstein And The Bomb’. The documentary film will explore Albert Einstein’s complex relationship with Hitler, Germany, the atom bomb and its devastating aftermath in Japan.
Attendees at the Edinburgh TV Fest were also treated to a short clip from ‘Einstein And The Bomb’. The documentary feature is slated to release on Netflix later this year.
Coming as it does on the heels of Christopher Nolan’s acclaimed ‘Oppenheimer’, most people have rightly assumed that Netflix is creating this documentary film in order to leverage the popularity of Oppenheimer. Savvy social media users have already dubbed it as the ‘Oppenheimer Cinematic Universe’.
However, the makers of ‘Einstein And The Bomb’ have debunked all those myths. Producers BBC Studios and writer Philip Ralph have painstakingly clarified that ‘Einstein And The Bomb’ was commissioned much prior to hearing about Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer.
‘Einstein And The Bomb’ will recount Albert Einstein’s role in the creation of the atomic bombs by the US that were eventually dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the resulting devastation they caused.
Stay tuned to Binged for further updates on the release date of ‘Einstein And The Bomb’ on Netflix.
