Imagine existing in the India in 2023 and still focussing little on a wider audience reach. That would be a fiasco and so is the case with Netflix India.
Makar Sankranti was a major clash in both Tamil and Telugu industries. Netflix bagged the streaming rights of one film from each industry. Thunivu is already streaming successfully on the platform in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi. But now is the time of Waltair Veerayya from the Telugu industry.
The film stars Cheeranjivi and is a highly promising title. It was released along with Nandmuri Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy. It is getting released on Disney+Hotstar not only in Telugu but also Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. After the theatrical clash, both films are getting released in a gap of merely 4 days.
Good for Hotstar, they managed to bag the audio rights of all the languages it was released in. We realize that the number of people who watch a movie in original audio with subtitles is increasing day by day but still there are many people who prefer watching in their own language.
Whatever the reasons may be, Netflix is somehow missing the potential of a large mass. Given the insanely huge subscriber base of Hotstar, it is clear that Waltair Veerayya will be nowhere close to Veera Simha Reddy in terms of digital views, but we will inform you about how the film performs.
