All you Alice in Borderland‘ fans, rejoice! After just two weeks since the Japanese live action adaptation of the animated series released on Netflix, the streaming giant has given the go ahead for a second season renewal. Netflix Malaysia dropped the announcement on their official twitter page using a video teaser (which practically showed nothing), a few hours ago. Check it out here.
The action-adventure thriller web-series dropped its first season on December 10th 2020 on Netflix to positive reviews. The live action adaptation of the manga of the same name (called Imawa no Kuni no Arisu in Japanese) which was created by Haro Aso has eight episodes in its first season.
The fantasy survival manga was one of the biggest selling novels in Japan at the time and it gained quite a huge fan following, since its initial release. Netflix – who has been looking into creating multiple anime/ live action series based off popular manga, grabbed their opportunity and announced the series last year.
The live-action series follows a jobless teenager named Arisu (Japanese pronunciation of Alice) who spends all his time playing games. He suddenly finds himself in a strange empty version of Tokyo with his best friends – Segawa and Karube. The trio are forced to play savage games in order to survive. Arisu meets a woman named Usagi who is navigating the game alone. Together, the quartet try to find out the mystery behind the game while at the same time learn about living when they are forced to risk their lives for this sadistic game.
