Netflix has finally unveiled the official teaser of its long-awaited anime adaptation of ‘Sakamoto Days’. The upcoming anime series is slated to hit the streaming service in early 2025. It revolves around Taro Sakamoto, a former hitman turned shopkeeper who was considered the best of the best at his job. Out of nowhere, he decided to retire, got married, settled down with his family, and opened a small store for him.
The latest clip provides a stark contrast between Sakamoto’s past and present life. His past life as a hitman looks dead serious and stylish, whereas his present life looks colourful, vibrant, and a bit comical. It seems like the character’s past life will start to haunt his present life in the upcoming series.
Despite getting old and overweight, Sakamoto has not forgotten how to fight and take care of his enemies, as shown by the latest teaser. We should expect to see plenty of blood, violence, gun-fu, and martial arts-styled fight sequences in the series. Sakamoto may have gone soft but he has not forgotten how to kill someone.
Netflix’s forthcoming anime adaptation takes inspiration from Yuto Suzuki’s 2020 manga series of the same name. Popular anime voice actor Tomokazu Sugita has voiced the protagonist in the series. On the other hand, director Masaki Watanabe has helmed the project. Sakamoto Days is a product of the TMS Entertainment banner.
Sakamoto Days will premiere on Netflix in January 2025. Stay tuned for more updates. Enjoy the teaser below!
