Netflix has dropped the official trailer of Atlas, an upcoming sci-fi action thriller starring Jennifer Lopez as the titular character. Her adversary in the film will be Harlan (played by Simu Liu) – a rogue artificial intelligence that was created to save the Earth. Instead, he wreaked havoc on the planet and its residents, nearly destroying all humanity.
The latest trailer shows Lopez as Atlas Shepherd, a brilliant but cynical data analyst who does not trust artificial intelligence. However, her duty forces her to go on a mission to capture Harlan. Atlas seems to be sharing a mysterious past with the renegade AI. When plans go awry, her only solution to protecting humanity from an AI like Harlan is to trust another AI named Smith.
Apart from Jennifer Lopez and Simu Liu, the newest Atlas trailer also shows talents like Sterling K. Brown, Mark Strong, and Lana Parrilla.
The duo of Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite has written the film’s script. On the other hand, Brad Peyton has helmed the project. He is best known for collaborating with Dwayne Johnson for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island (2012), San Andreas (2015), and Rampage (2018). His other directorial projects include Incarnate (2016) and Sweet Girl (2021).
Atlas marks Jennifer Lopez’s second feature collaboration with Netflix after The Mother (2023). The film will arrive on the streaming platform on May 24, 2024. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
