Netflix has released the trailer for the much awaited Applause Entertainment’s ‘Call My Agent: Bollywood, the Indian adaptation of the popular French series ‘Dix Pour Cent’ and it is that show you get when you mix Bollywood with wit, wackiness and emotions. Helmed by Shaad Ali (‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Ok Jaanu’), ‘Call My Agent: Bollywood’ is coming to Netflix on 29th October, 2021.
The trailer begins with the reveal of the death of Mr. Soumyajit Dasgupta, founder of a big talent agency of Bollywood. A prayer meet for the same is held where people from across the film industry, with some ignorant and funny ones in the mix, participate to offer their condolences. These include Jackie Shroff, Dia Mirza, Richa Chadha, Farah Khan and more.
But what follows next is the real deal where the trailer, through four talent agents, take you through behind-the-scenes of all that happens in Bollywood and the people associated with it. These agents manage all sorts of actors ranging from superstars, newcomers to has-beens.
The trailer further shows how these agents handle not just clients but also their fragile egos, tantrums and much more. But it does not stop at that, with the sudden death of the founder whose clients comprise of company’s 30% turnover, things have become quite difficult for these otherwise supercool and witty agents. Now, even if they lose a single one of his clients, it will start a wildfire and could eventually result in the company losing all its clients!
If you thought it’s just about glitz and glamor when it comes to Bollywood then beware it’s a just like any other corporation and needs to run business like one. Therefore when Ayush Mehra’s character makes one mistake with the company audit report it’s gonna be a tough ride ahead for them as they lost the one man who used to handle their finances and had saved them from trouble for years.
The loss of their leader is felt in each and every aspect of the company where everything seems to be in shambles and these four constantly try to clean the mess they make. There even comes a point where they start taking it out on each other and not just verbally but also physically. Will they be able to save the agency and themselves?
As per Netflix, ‘Call My Agent: Bollywood’ is a funny, quirky, heartwarming take on the world of showbiz that follows four savvy, street smart talent agents who manage fragile star egos and real human emotions to save their agency from closure after the sudden death of the founder.
