Netflix India‘s official YouTube channel just unveiled the first teaser for the much-awaited new season of its blockbuster hit show, ‘Delhi Crime’. Along with the Delhi Crime 2 teaser, Netflix has also revealed the release date of Delhi Crime Season 2. The new season of Delhi Crime premieres on Netflix India on August 26.
The Delhi Crime Season 2 teaser gives us glimpses into the trials and tribulations facing DCP Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah) this time round. As In Delhi Crime season 1, she is hounded by the media that is baying for her blood over the spate of murders of innocents in the capital city. Adil Hussain makes an appearance in the one-minute-long teaser as Commissioner Of Police Kumar Vijay, as does Rajesh Tailang as Inspector Bhupinder Singh. We get a fleeting glance at Rasika Dugal’s constable Neeti Singh.
The most interesting part of the Delhi Crime Season 2 teaser is that it gives away next to nothing about the plot of the new season, or the crimes that it will focus on. The tone and tenor of Delhi Crime Season 2 is just like the debut season – dark, grim and desolate. The focus is on the escalating crime rate in the capital city of the country, as Vartika Chaturvedi laments why they, the police, fail in keeping it under control, despite trying; and trying really hard.
As per reports in certain sections of the media, Delhi Crime Season 2 will centre upon the spree of brutal murders cum robberies carried out by the notorious Kaccha Baniyan gang in Delhi. The official synopsis from Netflix for Delhi Crime Season 2 reads – “Inspired by true events, Vartika spearheads another crucial investigation with her team to save Delhi and its senior citizens from a heinous gang of killers.”
Delhi Crime Season 2 stars Shefali Shah, Adil Hussain, Rajesh Tailang, Rasika Dugal, Gopal Datt Tiwari, Sidharth Bhardwaj in crucial roles. New additions to the cast include Tillotama Shome, along with Jatin Goswami, Delhi IAS officer cum actor Abhishek Singh, Vijay Shrivastava, Kishan Mehra, and Lokesh Aggarwal. The new season of Delhi Crime is directed by National Award-winning director Rajesh Mapuskar. Tanuj Chopra is the co-director and showrunner on Delhi Crime Season 2.
