There has been enough noise on the naming of terrorists in the Netflix India series IC-814. We have always screamed the fact that Netflix India or Anubhav Sinha are not wrong in calling two terrorists, Bhola and Shankar because that is what their code names were.
But, there is no doubt about the fact that both Netflix India and Anubhav Sinha are answerable to people. If they open the series to the public, then they deserve to know certain things about the show; it becomes even more important when the show is inspired by true events.
You must be aware that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting summoned the content head of Netflix India because a lot of people complained about the names of the shows. Netflix India promised to bring a disclaimer that would show the real names of the terrorists and not just the code names.
But they didn’t quite follow it. The disclaimer is being shown in India but the rest of the countries are still unaware of the fact that the terrorists were not called Bhola and Shankar in real life.
This is straight-up defiance of people’s emotions and sheer hypocrisy. Netflix India should implement the disclaimer in all the 192 countries they boast to be available in.
