Mercy for None, a new K-drama action noir series, is gaining popularity in India with each passing day since its release on Netflix (June 6). Directed by Choi Sung-eun and written by Yoo Ki-seong, this K-drama features a talented cast including So Ji-sub, Ahn Gil-kang, Huh Joon-ho, Choo Young-woo, Gong Myung, Lee Beom-soo, and Jo Han-chul.
After a life-threatening injury, Nam Gi-jun (So Ji-sub) leaves behind his life as a gang member. But when his younger brother, Nam Gi-seok, is brutally murdered eleven years later, Gi-jun is pulled back into the criminal underworld to uncover the truth and seek revenge.
Mercy for None is performing exceptionally well on Netflix. The K-drama has secured the second spot on the platform’s Top 10 Global Weekly Streaming Chart (Non-English) within just a week of its OTT release. Globally, the show has amassed over 4.9 million views and more than 24.7 million viewing hours.
On Netflix India, the show currently ranks fifth, behind titles such as Ginny & Georgia Season 3, The Royals Season 1, American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden, and Dept: Q Season 1. On IMDb, it has received an overwhelmingly positive response, boasting an impressive score of 7.6 out of 10.
The series has been praised for its intense pacing, gritty and realistic action, and a complex protagonist who blurs the line between hero and villain. It avoids typical K-drama tropes, instead focusing on character development through conflict and exploring the darker side of justice. The cinematography, short episode length, and gripping cliffhangers all contribute to a compelling and unforgettable viewing experience. Stay tuned for more updates.
