The memoir turned web-series is created by Stephanie Land, drawn from her own struggles in her 20s. She grew up in a middle class family but after going through a car accident at a young age, which led her to having Post traumatic stress disorder, she started struggling financially. She eventually ended up taking a job as a maid to support her and her young child. She spent the next few years living below the poverty line and relying on welfare programs to cover her various expenses.
The web-series will revolve around Alex (who Qualley is set to portray), a single mother who turns to housekeeping to make ends meet while she faces many battles faced by people below the poverty line – poverty, homelessness and bureaucracy. The story will be primarily told from her point of view as we get an inspiring, yet gritty exploration of poverty in America.
After her incredible roles as ‘Pussycat’ in Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award nominated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and as Ann/Reinking in the biographical mini-series Fosse/Verdon (where she got nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award), she has become one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses.
