Netflix has brought together Camila Mendes (Riverdale) and Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) for its latest feature film ‘Strangers’ to be directed and co-written by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, who made her directorial début with Netflix’s ‘Someone Great’.
‘Strangers’ has been touted as a “subverted Hitchock-ian dark comedy featuring the scariest protagonists of all: teenage girls. It follows Drew (Alpha, it girl) and Eleanor (beta, alt girl) who, after a clandestine meet-cute, team up to go after each other’s bullies.”
Celeste Ballard serves as the co-writer for ‘Strangers’ that is being produced by Robinson alongside Anthony Bregman and Peter Cron for Likely Story under their overall deal with Netflix.
Known for her role as Veronica Lodge in ‘Riverdale’ streaming on Netflix, Mendes will also be seen as Tala in ‘Palm Springs’ starring Andy Samberg. Mendes has also worked in Netflix films like ‘The Perfect Date’ and ‘Dangerous Lies’.
Hawke’s latest film includes Gia Coppola’s ‘Mainstream’ that premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year. She is also known for roles on Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Little Women’ and more.
The production and release dates for Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke starrer ‘Strangers’ remains to be announced by Netflix.
