Netflix has dropped the official trailer of Luther: The Fallen Sun, starring Idris Elba. The film will serve as a continuation of the acclaimed BBC series, Luther, which ran from 2010 to 2019. Elba portrayed a brilliant but emotionally troubled detective chief inspector, John Luther, in the show. The events of the last season put him behind bars. During his time in prison, a new serial killer, David Robey (Andy Serkis), starts terrorising the streets of London.
Luther gives his all when it comes to solving crime cases. He doesn’t care about breaking the rules or using illegal tactics to get his hands on criminals. But his job took a lot from him in return, filling him with darkness and uncontrollable rage.
Elba has bagged a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice award, and a Screen Actors Guild award for his outstanding performance in the show. The actor also has four Emmy nominations under his belt for the same. Overall, the series has notched eleven nominations.
Apart from Elba and Serkis, we have talents like Cynthia Ervo, Dermot Crowley, Jess Liaudin, Lauryn Ajufo, Natasha Patel, and Henry Hereford in the upcoming Netflix project.
The leading man hinted that Luther’s story would continue at the 2020 BAFTA Television Awards. Netflix officially greenlighted ‘Luther: The Fallen Sun’ a year later. The film will arrive on the streaming service on March 10. Stay tuned for more updates. Enjoy the trailer below!
