We are slowly inching towards the 96th Academy Awards, which will take place in March 2024. It means that the award season has begun, and major studios and streaming services are preparing themselves to bag some big awards. It is a belief in Hollywood that films that come out between November and February every year get the best chance of winning the Oscars. Maybe that’s why we are about to get Maestro, starring Bradley Cooper. The Leonard Bernstein biopic has received a limited theatrical release in the US until December 19. It will be available on Netflix for streaming from the next day, December 20.
Speaking of the Best Actor race for the upcoming Oscars, we had only two big names so far: Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon). Now, it seems like we have another contender. Thanks to Maestro’s limited theatrical release, many critics and people have learned about Bradley Cooper’s sensational and heartbreaking performance in the film.
Most expert and experienced journalists are betting on Cooper for the Academy Award for Best Actor at the 2024 Oscars, according to a report from Gold Derby. The ‘A Star Is Born’ actor has the best chance of winning the Oscar for Best Actor at the upcoming Academy Awards. Here’s how!
Cooper’s emotional and vulnerable take on Leonard Bernstein may prevail. The actor plays Bernstein across several decades, enabling him to showcase the character’s different emotions and mindsets in different decades. In addition, he has received a total of nine Oscar nominations, with no wins. Moreover, the man has helmed, written, and co-produced the film along with the likes of Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. It means that Cooper may get four Oscar nominations this time. He may miss the Oscar for Best Actor. But he should win an Oscar in the other three categories.
Apart from Cooper, Murphy, and DiCaprio, the men that have caught critics’ attention this year are Colman Domingo (Rustin), Joaquin Phoenix (Napoleon), Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction), and Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers).
The real hype for Maestro will develop after its streaming release on December 20. Let’s see if Bradley Cooper manages to bag an Oscar this time. Stay tuned for more updates.
