Netflix, is one such streaming platform, that even though entered the market quite some time ago, is still tremendously growing and that by far is one of the best attributes about Netflix. Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings is the man who has done a lot to not only bring quality shows for its viewers but also has helped the platform to grow geographically. Earlier only available to a few regions, Netflix is currently present almost in every country and interestingly with legit contents from those regions and Netflix. This has been Reed Hastings’ absolute mantra, to let Netflix grow at all costs.
Netflix’s one of the biggest markets has been India and even the CEO won’t deny this fact. Netflix India, over the years, has become such a big asset that cannot be looked down on or sidelined. Not only, in India, but Netflix is also growing tremendously all over Asia, with content from almost every country and region. It would be a lie if we say that Indian content is not enjoyed in the country. Fans of Bollywood love Indian content and with Netflix in the mix, fans all over the world have got some of the most extraordinary content that earlier wouldn’t have been possible without Netflix.
In a recent interview with a leading Indian business daily, Reed Hastings, who currently is on a tour revealed that Netflix has invested a whopping Rs. 3000 crores in the Indian market in the last two years. Yes, you saw that correctly Rs. 3000 crores. This in itself is completely bonkers and now we can understand how we are getting such a mega Indian series with Bollywood stars appearing in it. Not only that, Netflix India’s schedule too, is loaded with amazing content that is all set to release soon, and apparently more in the coming years are on their way.
Reed Hastings has mentioned that this popularity grew exponentially during the pandemic when people had nowhere to go and everyone was stuck at home with phones, laptops, and TVs. This is when most people turned to Netflix and within no time, India became a major part of the Netflix market. This love and growth of Netflix in India, has helped Reed Hastings and the team to go for Indian origin stories and more specifically regional movies and series that seemingly attract more fans towards the platform.
This isn’t a lie, there have been fans and lots of talks during the release of regional movies like Paava Kadhaigal, Pitta Kathalu, Ray, Sacred Games, Navarasa, and a lot more. Reed Hastings knows the fact that Netflix has a lot of competition in India especially when it comes to regional content, but even then the man is fully charged and pumped to take it ahead with India and Netflix for the sake of viewers and the viewers’ love for content on Netflix.
