Netflix’s Most Popular Top 10 English & Non-English Movies in 2022

OTT giant Netflix has revealed a list of the ten most popular English and non-English movies which were released in the year 2022 based on 28-day hours viewed between 1st January to 18th December 2022. The top ranked English movie is Russo Brothers’ action thriller ‘The Gray Man’ followed by the sci-fi action flick ‘The Adam Project’.

On the non-English movies front, the most popular title is the Norwegian monster movie ‘Troll’ followed by the widely acclaimed German war drama and a strong Oscar contender ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’. 10. Day Shift

The action horror flick features Jamie Foxx as a diligent blue-collar worker who wants a good life for his daughter. He works as a pool cleaner, but his seemingly ordinary job only acts as a front for his main source of income – vampire hunting.

9. The Man from Toronto

Directed by Patrick Hughes (The Hitman’s Bodyguard), the action-comedy film follows a case of mistaken identity between a deadly assassin (played by Woody Harrelson) and a down-on-luck New York man (reputedly played by Kevin Hart), while they happen to be at the same Airbnb rental.

8. Senior Year

The film’s story follows a 20-year-old high-school student Stephanie Conway, who meets with a serious accident during a cheerleading act. As a result, she goes into a coma and wakes up after 20 years. Now 37 years old, Stephanie decides to enroll in high school and fulfill her dream of becoming the prom queen.

7. Enola Holmes 2

It’s a sequel to the 2020 film ‘Enola Holmes’ and features Millie Bobby Brown in the lead role alongside Henry Cavill in the role of the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and the brother of the film’s titular protagonist. The sequel focuses on Enola Holmes’ first official case: finding the missing sister of an impoverished girl and how she tries to solve it with the help of her friends and her genius brother Sherlock.

6. The Sea Beast

The animated adventure movie revolves around a girl named Masie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator) who stows away on the ship of the legendary sea monster hunter Jacob Holland (Karl Urban) from whom she learns the tricks of the trade.

5. The Tinder Swindler

‘The Tinder Swindler’ follows the story of three female victims of online dating who are manipulated by a scamster posing as a billionaire businessman and how the group of swindled women decides to avenge their betrayals.

4. Hustle

The rags-to-riches sports drama movie features Adam Sandler as a washed-up basketball scout Stanley Sugarman, who discovers an incredibly gifted player Bo Cruz in Spain albeit with a troubled past. Do they still have it in them to make it to the NBA?

3. Purple Hearts

Based on Tess Wakefield’s book of the same name, the romantic drama movie follows the story of a budding singer Cassie (Sofia Carson) and a marine with a dark past Luke (Nicholas Galitzine). They duo agrees for a marriage of convenience which can take care of Cassie’s medical expenses and an increased paycheck for Luke. But after an incident, their fake marital relationship takes a more profound shape.

2. The Adam Project

‘The Adam Project’ follows the story of a 12-year-old father-less boy named Adam Reed (Walker Scobell) who finds an injured pilot (Ryan Reynolds), an older version of himself who has crash-landed to 2022 by time-traveling from the future. The two Adam Reeds team up to find their father (played by Mark Ruffalo) in the past, in order to save the future. The film also features Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldana in important roles.

1. The Gray Man

Based on the 2009 novel of the same name written by Mark Greaney, the film revolves around an old-timer CIA mercenary Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling) who becomes the target of his own organization after learning about its dark secrets. Consequently, he is pursued by his psychopath ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (played by Chris Evans), leaving him with no other option than to become a fugitive. Helmed by Russo Brothers, the movie also features Indian actor Dhanush and Ana de Armas.

10. Furioza

The Polish crime actioner follows a man named David, who is forced by his former lover and now a cop Dzika to infiltrate a dangerous gang and becomes a police informant to save his brother from going to prison.

9. Restless

The French action movie revolves around a corrupt cop’s desperate efforts to cover up an accident. But things do not go as smoothly as the cop had planned after a mysterious accident witness begins to threaten him.

8. My Name of Vendetta

The action-adventure Italian film follows a man with a dark past whose wife and brother-in-law are brutally murdered by a pair of criminals. Now, he and his daughter run away to Milan to seek an equally brutal revenge from the perpetrators.

7. Carter

The South Korean action thriller movie follows the titular protagonist Agent Carter (Joo Won), who wakes up without any memory of his past. Now, Carter must rely on the mysterious voice from a device planted inside his ear and race against time to pursue a dangerous hostage rescue mission while trying to remember his own identity.

6. Loving Adults

The thriller movie is based on Anna Ekberg’s novel ‘Till Death Do Us Apart’ and follows the relationship between a husband and a wife after the wife finds out about her husband’s secret affair and how their friendship turns into enmity.

5. The Takedown

The French action-comedy movie is a sequel to the 2012 film ‘On the Other Side of the Tracks’. The plotline follows two disparate cops Ousmane Diakité (Omar Sy) and François Monge (Laurent Lafitte) who are forced to team-up again after ten years. Their new case together is about a drug deal, but it turns out to be a case with higher stakes and a larger conspiracy than the mismatched duo had imagined.

4. Through My Window

The Spanish romantic comedy film is about a girl named Raquel who is madly in love with her next-door neighbour but hasn’t spoken with him. She attempts to make him fall in love with her. Will her handsome neighbour reciprocate her love?

3. Black Crab

Set against the backdrop of a war-torn post-apocalyptic world, this Swedish military action thriller features Noomi Rapace in the lead role. The plotline revolves around a group of soldiers who are on a dangerous mission to transport a vital package over a frozen sea that could end the war.

2. All Quiet on the Western Front

Based on German novelist Erich Maria Remarque’s 1929 book of the same name, the anti-war movie follows the story of a young German soldier Paul Bäumer (Felix Kammerer), who begins to understand the brutal life in the trenches during World War-I.
