Fans of the crime genre may have already seen the brilliant and brutal Netflix series ‘Narcos’. While the first two seasons of the show revolved around DEA’s efforts to bring to justice the ruthless drug lord Pablo Escobar, the third season was about the Cali Cartel followed by the Mexico-set show ‘Narcos: Mexico’.
‘Narcos: Mexico’ narrated the events about the unlawful drug trade that was rampant in 1980s Mexico and the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel led by Miguel Ángel Félix Gallardo. Felix’s partner in crime for building the drug empire was Rafael “Rafa” Caro Quintero, whose role in the torture and killing of US anti-narcotics agent Kiki Camarena was also portrayed in the Netflix series ‘Narcos: Mexico’. DEA agent Kiki’s role was played by popular American actor Michael Pena.
And now, as per the latest update, the real-life ‘Narcos: Mexico’ villain Rafael Caro Quintero, who was also the cofounder of the Guadalajara Cartel, has reportedly been captured by a joint international task force. The role of Rafael Caro Quintero in the critically acclaimed Netflix series was essayed by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta. He was one of the main characters in the show’s first season and guest starred in Season-2. Although we are obviously not talking about the actor but the capture of the real-life criminal Caro Quintero.
After spending 28 years behind the bars, Caro Quintero was released on technical ground in 2013. After that, he apparently joined the Sinaloa Cartel and became amongst the FBI’s top ten most wanted fugitives. Caro Quintero has reportedly been caught in Sinaloa by a highly trained bloodhound dog named Max. Fitting justice for the murder of DEA agent Kiki Camarena and perfect update for a potential ‘Narcos: Mexico’ Season-4. Netflix, we are waiting.
