Netflix’s hotly awaited film ‘Extraction 2‘ just got hotter than ever. Coz joining the already stacked cast of the action thriller is none other than hot hunk, Idris Elba. Netflix revealed the casting of Idris Elba in a new one-minute teaser that the platform launched last evening on its social media handles.
Going by the teaser, Idris Elba’s role in Extraction 2 is not very clear, nor is its length. He does seem to be one of the guys who puts Chris Hemsworth’s Tyler Rake on his new mission, though. The new Extraction 2 teaser showcases a brief interaction between Chris Hemsworth and Idris Elba’s characters, which ends with Elba teasing Rake on his name. “Rake, that’s such a fun name to say,” he says.

Idris Elba’s casting in Extraction 2 brings Chris Hemsworth together with his Thor and other Marvel movies co-star. For those who don’t know, Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the Marvel movies, while Idris Elba plays Heimdall, Thor’s half-brother and a powerful Asgardian God.
Extraction 2 sees the return of Tyler Rake from the dead, as the mercenary-for-hire embarks on another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they’re being held. The film also reveals more about the backstory of Tyler Rake, and the tragic event that the first Extraction film alludes to. Extraction 2 introduces some new characters that bring Rake’s past into greater focus, and reveal more about where he’s coming from and why he’s doing what he’s doing.
Besides Chris Hemsworth, Extraction 2 will see Golshifteh Farahani and Adam Bessa reprise their roles of Nik Khan and Yaz Khan. Joining them in this new adventure are new cast members Olga Kurylenko, Daniel Bernhardt and Tinatin Dalakishvili, besides Idris Elba, of course.
‘Extraction 2’ is the sequel to Netflix’s blockbuster 2020 hit film ‘Extraction’. The film premieres on Netflix worldwide on 16th June, 2023. The film is directed by Sam Hargrave, like the first Extraction film. Joe and Anthony Russo produce Extraction 2, along with Chris Hemsworth.
