Seinfeld, one of the most popular sit-coms till date, featured the life and events of Jerry Seinfeld, as he navigated his life with his friends. Interestingly, the whole character of Jerry Seinfeld was created based on the lead actor Jerry Seinfeld himself. Jerry Seinfeld, without doubt is one of most popular stand-up comedians out there today, and he started this life even before it was way cool to be one stand-up comedians. Jerry Seinfeld’s gigs are some of the most famous stand-up videos that are loved around the world and now based on one of his ultra famous gigs, Netflix is bringing out a film.
Yes, you heard us Netflix is bringing up a film which will be based on Jerry Seinfeld’s gig. Well, not quite technically “based”, but the gig will apparently be the jumping off point for the upcoming movie. Already titled, “Unfrosted”, the movie actually belongs to Seinfeld himself and Netflix just recently bought the rights for the movie, helping in producing and creating the movie.
Now, one may ask what exactly this movie is. Well, the movie will be based on “Pop-tarts”. Yup, that’s right, Pop-Tarts which are one of the most famous American breakfasts slash snack thingy, is getting its very own movie. The movie will be based on how this very famous American snack actually originated and will star Jerry Seinfeld as the lead actor for the movie.
Not only will Jerry star in the movie, he will also direct and produce the movie. Jerry earlier did a gig for New York Times, which also is streaming on Netflix and in that very gig, he mentions about this breakfast product “Pop-Tarts”. The part of the gig blew up and was immediately a hit amongst people all over. Pop-Tart though is an extremely American thing; today it is available all over the world.
The movie is touted to be a complete comedy and we can definitely expect that since it’s Jerry Seinfeld. As Jerry mentions, this was actually a random idea that occurred to him while he was sitting sad shows during the pandemic. Apparently, he thought amidst these endless intense dramas all over, it would actually be a good idea to bring out something silly and comedic.
He got together with writers Spike Feresten and Barry Marder and co-wrote the upcoming movie “Unfrosted”. Netflix in a silent bid that was taking place claimed the rights for the movie and at the end, making the bond between Netflix and Seinfeld even stronger. Netflix, for now has been in a good deal with Jerry, as they are streaming his stand-up specials and also creating Netflix exclusive stand-up specials with him. Besides that, Jerry Seinfeld has earlier, co-wrote, produced and voiced the character of Barry B. Benson for the “Bee Movie”
This deal comes after Netflix’s deal with Steven Spielberg and Daniel Craig starrer Knives Out sequels. Netflix has also done such a deal with actor Adam Sandler before and as a result of that, Netflix and Adam Sandler has been creating many Netflix exclusive projects. It would be interesting to see what this movie and deal amongst Jerry Seinfeld and Netflix brings for both the parties.
