Another anthology movie is going to hit Netflix and this is the first Netflix original Tamil movie. Paava Kadhaigal will be released on the 18th of December. The anthology movie will have 4 stories from 4 great directors of the industry. It will showcase 4 great themes that have been part of human life ever for as long as one can remember. Honour, love, pride and sin are the four themes that this movie will be riding high on.
With a remarkable cast the movie will be divided into 4 parts and the stories are being directed by Gautham Menon, Sudha Kongara, Vettri Maaran and Vignesh Shivan. With critical moments being talked about in the trailer itself, the movie will focus on topics like same gendered relationship, estranged parents, gender queerness, womanhood etc. The snippets from all the stories look powerful, showcasing the happier moments and also those moments that could break families apart to give a taste of both the sweet and salty versions of life.
The movie already is gathering attention and it rightly should. As compared to the hindi anthologies that were earlier released by Netflix, Paava Kadhaigal looks much more intense and a lot more meaningful in all senses. They definitely chose the right and exact themes that has been part of the Indian culture since time immemorial and with the trailer going in a certain way, it feels like the movie wants to showcase the orthodox Indian families in specific that has been known to adhere strong to these values and also most of us, even if we don’t come from extremely orthodox families might be able to still relate to this.
The movie will have “Thangam” by Sudha Kongara, “Love Panna Uttranum” by Vignesh Shivan, “Oor Iravu” by Vettri Maaran and “Vaanmagal” by Gautham Menon.
Besides Paava Kadhaigal, there are two more anthologies in store for us from Netflix, “The Victim” and “Navarasa”
