Bloomberg recently revealed that Netflix plans to continue the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed Peaky Blinders franchise with two spinoff shows. One of these projects will take place in Boston during the 20th century, decades after the events of the original series. The second one will explore Polly’s origins and how she became an integral part of Peaky Blinders.
Speaking of the Polly spinoff project, many are wondering what kind of story they will get to witness without the involvement of the late Helen McCrory. It was McCrory’s sensational performance and mesmerising presence that made Polly such a memorable character. Polly was the strongest among all other members of Peaky Blinders and often served as Tommy Shelby’s right-hand man. Plus, she was a motherly figure to many members of the gang and did not hesitate to insult them when they went out of control. In other words, we can say that Polly was the glue that held the Peaky Blinders together. Which is why it is a must for the upcoming Polly spinoff project to honour the protagonist’s legacy.
Netflix has yet to reveal plot details about the forthcoming Polly spinoff series. Though, many fan theories have surfaced online regarding what the project will be about. Some believe that the show would explore Polly’s past, including the tragedies she endured. One of the tragedies could focus on her husband’s death. Additionally, the project could touch on the trauma she faced after losing custody of her children. Those difficult moments transformed Polly and made her strong from the inside. Furthermore, the project could shed light on her rise as a captivating and cunning member of the Peaky Blinders gang.
Polly is undoubtedly the strongest female character in the Peaky Blinders series and deserves a project of her own. Despite having a sad backstory, she is one of the most intriguing characters in the franchise. Stay tuned for more updates.
