Barry Keoghan, the live-action Joker actor from Matt Reeves’ The Batman, has been cast in Netflix’s highly anticipated Peaky Blinders movie. As per Deadline, the Academy Award-nominated actor has been added to the cast of the upcoming Peaky Blinders movie, getting a chance to share the screen with the supremely talented Cillian Murphy, who will reprise his iconic character of Tommy Shelby. Helmed by Tom Harper, the project added Rebecca Ferguson sometime ago. However, the details about their respective characters are under wraps right now.
The streamer greenlighted the Peaky Blinders movie in June this year and announced Murphy’s return to the franchise as Tommy Shelby, leader of the eponymous Birmingham gangster family.
The titular series creator, Steven Knight, is yet to utter the storyline details about the upcoming movie. Though, he has teased that the film’s events would take place during World War II. Filming is expected to commence later this year.
In addition to his writing duties, Knight will also co-produce the film alongside Murphy, Guy Heeley, and Caryn Mandabach. Executive producers are David Kosse, Harper, Andrew Warren, Jamie Glazebrook, and David Mason.
Barry Keoghan is best known for his work in features such as The Killing of a Sacred Deer, Dunkirk, The Green Knight, Eternals, The Batman, The Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn, and more. He even bagged a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his wonderful performance in The Banshees of Inisherin at the 95th Oscars. Stay tuned for more updates.
