The upcoming 66th edition of the BFI London Film Festival will host the world premiere of Netflix’s Pinocchio, helmed by Guillermo del Toro. This year’s festival will commence on October 5.
The helmer will bestow a dark version of our beloved wooden marionette. Pinocchio came to life after Geppetto made him to reduce the grief of his deceased son, Carlo. Our protagonist turns out to be a naughty boy instead of a good one. He loves causing mayhem and playing nasty tricks on people. However, he starts realising the true meaning of love after enduring the consequences of his actions.
The film’s voice cast is stacked with numerous talented performers like Ewan McGregor (Sebastian J. Cricket), David Bradley (Master Geppetto), Christoph Waltz (Count Volpe), Tilda Swinton (Turquoise Fairy), Ron Perlman (Podesta), Finn Wolfhard (Candlewick), and many more. Gregory Mann has lent his voice to the protagonist.
The directional duo of Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson directed Pinocchio. Also, the former has written the film’s screenplay with Patrick McHale. The movie’s events have been inspired by Carlon Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio, a classic children’s novel. Additionally, Academy Award-winning composer, Alexandre Desplat has bestowed his music to the animated film.
Apart from Netflix’s Pinocchio, the festival will host the premieres of 23 feature films and three tv shows. Hugo Black’s forthcoming Western drama series, The English, will also debut at the festival. It stars Emily Blunt, Chaske Spencer, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones, Tom Hughes, Stephen Rea, Ciaran Hinds, Valerie Pachner, and many more acting talents. It will release in the US on Prime Video. Stay tuned for more updates.
