Netflix’s Renewal Of ‘Lupin’ For Part 2 Proves This One Significant Thing

Netflix’s latest hit French show ‘Lupin‘ that became a global phenomenon within weeks of its release will be returning for part two in the Summer of 2021. Starring Omar Sy in the lead, ‘Lupin’ has been Number 1 in Netflix’s Top 10 across more than ten countries.

Part 2 of ‘Lupin’ will consist of five episodes, wherein episodes 6 & 7 will be directed by Ludovic Bernard (‘The Climb’) and episodes 8, 9 and 10 by Hugo Gélin (‘Love At Second Sight’). The cast for the French mystery thriller includes Omar Sy, Hervé Pierre, Nicole Garcia, Clotilde Hesme, Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Shirine Boutella and Soufiane Guerrab. Created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, Lupin has been produced by Gaumont Télévision’s Isabelle Degeorges and Nathan Franck.

The tremendous success of ‘Lupin’, a non-English show is not a first for Netflix. We have earlier seen Netflix originals like Lacasa De Papel (Spain), Dark (Germany), Fauda (Israel), Kingdom (South Korea), How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast) (Germany), Sacred Games (India), 3% (Brazil) and many more becoming massive global successes. In fact, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that non-English Netflix original shows have created much more waves for the streaming giant internationally.

These foreign shows appeal to not just the audience of the origin country but gathers fans from across continents. The variability in the art of filmmaking prevalent in different regions around the globe gets recognised and appreciated through such shows. Netflix with its slate of magnificent international shows often opens up newer worlds for people to explore and enjoy.
