Producer LeBron James (ngl, sounds a bit weird) teams with director Sydney Freeland (Echo) and writer Sterlin Harjo (Reservation Dogs) for ‘Rez Ball’, an upcoming coming-of-age sports drama by Netflix. The streaming giant has unveiled the first official trailer of the forthcoming movie. It is all set to premiere at this year’s TIFF event.
‘Rez Ball’ follows the Chuska Warriors, a New Mexico-based Native American high school basketball team that must change how they play after losing their star player. They not only have to beat the odds that are stacked against them but they also have to honour the memory of their lost teammate by winning the state championship.
Harjo and Freeland co-write the movie’s script, with the latter helming. NBA star James serves as one of the producers via his Springhill Entertainment banner. The rest of the production houses for the film are Lake Ellyn Entertainment, Chernin Entertainment, and Wise Entertainment.
The cast of ‘Rez Ball’ consists of plenty of young talents and unknown faces, comprising actors like Jessica Matten, Julia Jones, Amber Midthunder, Kiowa Gordon, Dallas Goldtooth, Cody Lightning, and more. It will come out on Netflix on September 27. Stay tuned for more updates. Check out the trailer below!
