One of the most anticipated Netflix fantasy series right now has to be the second season of ‘Shadow and Bone’. Finally putting the queries of the fans to rest, the series’s next season finally has a release date!
The second season of ‘Shadow and Bone’ is to release on March 16th, 2023. While it is a three months wait, as the saying goes, some of the best things are worth the wait. And from the first looks released of the series’ upcoming season, yes it does seem to be worth the wait.
Released in 2021 on Netflix, the series quickly gained praise for the way the story of the literary works was adapted onto the screen. The ‘Shadow and Bone’ book trilogy and the two-book series ‘Six of Crows’ are two separate works and how creator Eric Andrew Heisserer merged the two seamlessly was one of the main highlights of the Tv series, along with the performances of the main cast.
‘Shadow and Bone’ stars an ensemble main cast led by Jessie Mei Li, Archie Renaux, and Ben Barnes and co-starring Freddy Carter, Amita Suman, Kit Young, Danielle Galligan, and Calahan Skogman. Set in the world of the Grishaverse, the series adapts the story of young Alina Starkov(Jessie), an orphan and cartographer of the Ravka nation’s First Army, as she discovers she is a Grisha, one with special gifts, and one long-awaited to address a dire need in the universe.
The first season adapted the book Shadow and Bone (2013) and added an original storyline featuring the Crows, a criminal gang for which the eponymous duology is named. The second season will be adapting the book Siege and Storm (2013), and another original storyline featuring the Crows.
From the rekindling of the romance between Akina and Darkling to getting to see more of the crows, the fans have lots of expectations regarding the series’s second season. With major cast additions as well, the series from the looks of it seems bigger and hopefully better than the first one.
